SM3 Top Three: How to Leverage the Holiday Season

Ali_mainThe holiday season is upon us! Guests are out and about, getting gifts, ordering catering services, and preparing for parties and social events. There are many ways to leverage the holidays for sales and list growth. Here are some ideas, from Ali Nazam, E-Mail and Social Media Specialist.

  1. Put together a special holiday prix fixe. Open on Christmas and New Year’s? Make it even more special with an exclusive holiday menu. Try out festive cocktails and appetizers. And don’t feel restricted to just the day of the holiday – try a Christmas Shopping Power Lunch so guests can get in and out quickly to get back to present hunting.
  2. Gift an experience. Partner with other local businesses to put together one amazing day your guests can purchase for their friends and family. Think of something like “Dinner and a Show,” where one purchase takes care of limo service, tickets to a local play, and a four course meal at your place. Alternatively, a sports bar could sell “The Ultimate Tailgate” – tickets and a parking pass to a local sporting event, jerseys, and a to-go bag of wings, beer, and other essentials.
  3. Offer to help with those holiday meals. There’s a good chance your guests will stay in or host parties to celebrate their favorite holidays. That doesn’t mean you can’t turn this into a revenue opportunity. Offer up your appetizers, sides and desserts for their family meals. They can handle the turkey!

The holidays are busy, but that makes this time invaluable to your restaurant. Just remember to think of a long-term strategy outside of holiday sales. Make sure you are signing up holiday guests for your eClub or social media channels when they’re in the stores, to keep engaging them in 2015.
